Motswiri Camp
Located in the beautiful region of the Selinda Spillway in Northern Botswana, Motswiri Camp is all about experiencing wildlife up close and personal in spectacular remote surroundings. The camp focuses on riding and walking safaris, although game drives, canoe and mokoro trips are available too.
The area has a wealth of flora, fauna and intricate ecosystems awaiting your clients discovery. The birdlife here is fantastic and lion, buffalo, zebra, kudu, hippo, elephant, wildebeest, roan antelope, wild dog, giraffe and much more, can be seen in this region.
The staff share more than 50 years experience of hosting low impact safaris in Botswana, and help create a fun, friendly, relaxing environment for guests, further maximizing their safari experience. Accommodation
Motswiri is a small and intimate camp, stylishly rebuilt in 2010. It’s operated largely by solar power, and offers comfortable accommodation.
Built on raised wooden decks, lining the spillway, five tents are well spaced apart, providing privacy and a real close to nature experience. Each has its own self-contained shower, toilet and large decked veranda, and can be configured for double bed or twin accommodation. They also have a specially designed family tent and a honeymoon tent with outdoor bucket shower.
The central mess area boasts a large, tastefully furnished, sitting area, with open dining, all boasting wonderful views of the spillway and the wildlife that is attracted to it to drink.
Further to this, there is also a discreet sunbathing area with its own plunge pool and sun loungers.
Activities
Riding
The reserve provides a superb terrain for riding, with a mix of open flood plain, dry savannah and riverine bush.
RAW has twenty four horses, ranging from Thoroughbreds to Boerperds, Arabs and Kalahari crosses, large to small. All are immaculately looked after and are acclimatised to the area and to the game that guests will encounter. For a unique horseback safari, rides will not normally comprise of more than six guests, and each ride is lead by a guide and accompanied by a back up. Up to six hours per day are spent in the saddle, and for safety reasons, it is advised that only intimidate riders take part in this activity at Motswiri. Clients must be able to rise to the trot, and control their horse at all speeds.
Walking
Led by knowledgeable and experienced guides, walking safaris are a key ingredient at Motswiri. Every guest will learn something new during this activity, from the meaning of plants to the identification of prints – this is a very rewarding experience!
Game Drives, mokorro, canoe and speed boat trips are all available too.
